Pole camps in Asia: Bali, Thailand & beyond

Asia has become one of the most exciting destinations for pole dancers who want world-class training and unforgettable travel in one trip. From Bali's rice terraces to Phuket's beaches to the Maldives' turquoise lagoons, the continent offers pole camps that rival anything in Europe or the Americas — often at a fraction of the cost.

Whether you're a seasoned competitor or considering your first retreat, Asia delivers something genuinely special: tropical settings, rich culture, warm hospitality, and a fast-growing pole community. Here's a country-by-country look at what's on offer.

Indonesia: Bali leads the way

Bali is Asia's undisputed pole camp hub. Affordable luxury, creative energy, and a thriving dance community have drawn pole dancers from around the world for years.

Robean Studio Bali

Robean Studio Bali is one of the most recognized names in the Asian pole camp scene. Their Bali Pole Camp series has run for multiple editions and consistently sells out. Volume 10, the Flow Technique Edition, featured Olga Baidyuk, Mimi Midnight, Kira Noire, Oksana Shine, and Rezeda across five days of intensive training. Volume 11 shifted to an exotic focus with Vika, Coco Kehong, Elena Chernyshova, Allebazi, Allie Kamikaze, and Kseniya Getman. The studio has also hosted the Bretreats Bali Experience — an eleven-day pole and adventure retreat spanning Ubud, Canggu, and Uluwatu.

Most Robean retreats include villa accommodation, airport transfers, welcome parties, photoshoots, and community gatherings alongside the training itself.

SINGULARITY Pole Camp

SINGULARITY brings a different flavor to Bali with a five-day intensive featuring fourteen workshops with artists like Polisha Li, Sasha Romanova, Sue Natanael, and Tanya Bourgeoiscayer. The emphasis goes beyond pole technique into dance and performance, guiding participants to explore artistic expression. Both full packages with villa accommodation and independent packages are available.

Beyond Bali: Gili Air, Bandung, and more

Indonesia's pole scene extends beyond Bali. Ecole de Pole runs a Holistic Pole Retreat on the quiet island of Gili Air near Lombok, combining pole with wellness and island life. In Bandung, Bonbon Studio Jakarta hosts a Luxury Pole Retreat Feel, trading beachside vibes for mountain scenery and highland air. Both are solid options if you want Indonesia without the Bali crowds.

Thailand: Phuket and beyond

Thailand is arguably the most popular destination in Asia for pole retreats. Warm weather year-round, excellent food, affordable accommodation, and well-established tourism infrastructure make it ideal for extended pole training.

OTP Retreats in Phuket

OTP Retreats runs a packed calendar of camps out of Phuket. Their Heels Mastery series has featured The Pole Wizard (Jakub Kolasa), Polina Larovski, Unnie, Sarah Scott, Izabella, Pole Kitten, and Quan Bui. The Movement Mastery series focuses on sport pole and flow with Dan Rosen and Gaby Borrayo. Hybrid Mastery camps blend both styles.

You can book a single five-day camp, combine two consecutive camps into an "Ultimate" nine-night stay, or pick the style that suits you. Their Songkran Edition even incorporates Thailand's famous water festival. Camps include resort accommodation with breakfast, welcome brunches, beach dinners, photoshoots, and the signature beach pole jam.

Phuket Pole Retreats

For a boutique experience, Phuket Pole Retreats offers an intimate four-day retreat at a five-star resort overlooking the Andaman Sea. Instructors include Zuzanna Kijanowska, Imogen Gunter, Celestial Edan, and Jenny Liebert, with a focus on flow, transitions, and emotional expression. Small class sizes and ability-based groups keep it personalized. They even offer a bring-a-plus-one package for partners or friends who want the resort without the training.

Ecole de Pole: Phuket and Bangkok

Australia-based Ecole de Pole runs multiple retreats in Thailand — dedicated weeks in Phuket for different styles (pole one week, heels and choreography the next) plus an Instructor Training Camp in Bangkok for aspiring pole instructors.

Chiang Mai

Northern Thailand offers a completely different energy. Claudia Sylvanise runs a week-long pole camp in Chiang Mai combining twenty hours of training with temple visits, Thai massages, a river boat ride, night markets, cooking classes, and a trip to an elephant sanctuary. Poleartacts has hosted gentle day retreats combining pole dance, yoga, and wellness at OUR Space Nimman. More cultural, more grounded — and just as rewarding as the resort scene down south.

The Dark Side: Pilonia in Thailand

For exotic pole dancers, Pole Dance Camp Pilonia runs their Dark Side Camp in Thailand — an eleven-day intensive focused on exotic and dark-style pole with instructors like Anela Kuzmina. A longer, deeper immersion for dancers who want to go beyond a typical retreat.

Japan: Where precision meets artistry

Japan's pole scene is vibrant but camps are less frequent than in Southeast Asia. Japanese pole dancers are known for meticulous attention to detail, clean lines, and artistic interpretation.

The country hosts significant competitions including the Japan Pole & Aerial Sports Championships in Osaka, Exotic Generation Japan in Tokyo, and the International Poleartist Japan competition. Visiting for a competition and combining it with workshops at local studios in Tokyo or Osaka is a great way to experience the Japanese pole community.

India: An emerging destination

Gravity Sanctuary runs ELEVATE, a spin pole retreat in Bangalore led by Marion Crampe and Lydia Lee. Three intensive training days with six workshops covering spin pole technique, flow, flex-based shapes, combinations, and performance artistry. With just six to seven participants per class, it's as personalized as pole training gets.

Bangalore is a modern, cosmopolitan city, but you're also within reach of yoga retreats, Ayurvedic treatments, and the kind of spiritual exploration that pairs naturally with pole practice.

Sri Lanka: Wellness meets aerial arts

Pole Vibes Budapest runs a seven-day yoga and aerial retreat in Sri Lanka, featuring morning yoga, sunset aerial hoop training, and mindful strength classes. Accommodation is in a private villa with pool and ocean views, curated as a women-focused experience for renewal and strength. Sri Lanka is still relatively undiscovered by the pole community — expect smaller groups and more personal attention.

The Maldives: Pole in paradise

Goldy Birdy Retreats runs a ten-day pole retreat on Thulusdhoo Island with full board accommodation, nine pole sessions, rooftop low-flow sessions, plus snorkeling, dolphin trips, beach photoshoots, and speed boat transfers from Male.

Pole Dance Camp Pilonia also runs camps on Kamadhoo Island — about thirty classes over ten days covering pole dance, exotic pole, pole art, strip/plastic, floorwork, choreography, stretching, and yoga. Poles right next to the water create an unreal training environment. Rest days include dolphin cruises and snorkeling.

BeachPole runs a ten-night camp in the Maldives combining pole on the beach with surf lessons, boat trips to sand banks, and optional coral reef dives.

Vietnam, China, and beyond

The scene keeps expanding. Pole Camp Vietnam runs a week-long retreat in Nha Trang combining pole sport, pole art, and exotic dance with stretching and acro yoga. Daria Che's Flow Trip brought her flow training to Shenzhen, and the Exotic Generation China competition is building a competitive scene there. South Korea hosts IPSF competitions in Seoul, and the Haven & Heels competition in Kuala Lumpur is growing Malaysia's exotic pole community.

Turkey, straddling Europe and Asia, also deserves mention. Politov Pole Camp runs sessions at a dedicated "pole hotel" in Adrasan, Antalya, with twenty-four-seven pole room access, water pole, beach pole, flying pole, foam pit training, and hikes to ancient ruins and Fire Mountain. Pole Vibes Budapest runs camps in Dubai combining studio training with luxury yacht photoshoots and cultural tours.

What makes Asian pole camps special

Value for money

In Southeast Asia especially, your money goes significantly further. A ten-day retreat in Bali or Phuket with villa accommodation, meals, and workshops can cost less than a five-day camp in Austria or Spain.

Tropical settings

Training surrounded by palm trees, within earshot of the ocean, or with rice terraces stretching to the horizon changes the experience. Many camps include outdoor and beach sessions you won't find elsewhere — floating poles on the water in the Maldives, beachside photoshoots in Phuket.

Cultural richness

Asian camps often weave in cultural experiences: Songkran in Thailand, temple visits in Bali, cooking classes in Chiang Mai, dolphin snorkeling in the Maldives. These extras make a pole retreat feel like far more than a training holiday.

Growing community

Competitions are multiplying — from IPSF events in Seoul and Osaka to exotic showcases in Tokyo and Bangkok to the Singapore Aerial & Pole Fiesta. Studios across the region welcome drop-in visitors, and instructors coming out of Asia are gaining international recognition.

Planning your Asian pole camp trip

When to go

Thailand runs year-round; dry season is November through April. Bali camps are spread throughout the year, with April to October slightly more popular. The Maldives is best November through April. India's camps tend to run outside monsoon season.

What to expect

Asian camps generally offer more inclusive packages than European ones — many include accommodation, meals, transfers, and excursions in the base price. Humidity will challenge your grip, especially if you train in climate-controlled studios at home. Bring extra grip aids and give yourself an adjustment period.

Combining trips

Bali is a gateway to the rest of Indonesia. Phuket connects you to the Thai islands. Bangkok is a hub for flights across Southeast Asia. Many dancers build multi-country trips around a pole camp, adding beach time, cultural exploration, or visits to local studios.
